Lot grading is an important part of protecting a home's foundation.  Because of an improper sloping towards the home the soil against this home was found to be damp and moist.  This can lead to foundation crumbling, efflorescing, spalling and deterioration.  These can all lead to multiple foundation problems effecting the structures integrity.

Recommendations to correct this problem were provided.

The top picture of the sidewalk shows some cracking and movement of the side walk, the bottom picture shows a patched crack.  Sidewalks are often poured thinner than foundations and therefore may show more evidence of any shifting and settling.  Cracks like these pose trip hazards and may also channel water towards the home's foundation.
